WRVS BT – want to know more and meet us?

In the last few years, we have been reaching out to Royal Voluntary Service hubs across the country to spread the word of the WRVS Benevolent Trust. We want to help more volunteers and employees who find themselves in crisis and need a bit of financial help.

How we can help:

Did you know that we provide grants to help with making everyday life easier? Many past or present volunteers and staff have the smallest of needs which, with a grant from us, would make a huge difference to their lives. They have made a valuable contribution to the lives of others and now may need help themselves. We have provided grants to help purchase:

  • Washing machines
  • Cookers
  • Beds
  • Roof repairs
  • Dental treatment
  • Glasses
  • Electric wheelchairs
  • Stairlifts

People can apply directly, or they can ask a friend or family member to make the application for them. We even provide advice and top tips on completing the application form.

Here’s what some of our successful grant applicants say about the scheme:

“To know that I can now have the dental treatment done has given me such peace of mind. I look forward to smiling again.”

“A new cooker will make life so much easier for me. Thank you all.”

“I can never thank you enough for the great worry you have taken from me with your contribution to the cost of having my roof repaired.”

We also provide Youth Bursary Awards to young people aged 16-25? We offer up to £2000 to assist them with an event or opportunity that will benefit either their personal development or their future career.

Previous awards have helped young RVS volunteers work on amazing projects in Africa, India and Australia. We have even helped someone qualify as a professional bus driver! To read more about how these experiences have influenced and changed the lives of our young volunteers, please click here.

Applications need to be submitted by the first week in March so that our Board can decide at their March meeting, unlike our grants which can be submitted all year round.

How about a presentation in your Hub?

We are visiting RVS hubs across the country with the aim of spreading the word about our grants and Youth Bursary Awards, and we would like your help. If you think you and your volunteers and staff would like to know more about our various schemes, we would love to visit your hub and talk to you about how our work could be of benefit to you and your members.

To arrange a visit, please get in touch either via our Facebook page or email us at enquiry@wrvsbt.org.uk. We only require 1-2 months’ notice, and in the meantime, you can order some of our leaflets to spread the news of the Trust ahead of our visit. Just email the RVS internal comms team, and they will pop some in the post to you.

We think the RVS staff and volunteers are amazing so please help us spread the word about our grants so that we can help YOU in times of need!
